Sunday 15 April 2012 - Abseiling down Murrayfield Stadium
My friends and I arrived for 1pm (my time slot as there were over around 130 abseilers). Hugged (a lot) a very happy June Ross, the regional manager for CF Trust, who I have bonded with over the years. There was a back-log so had sometime to relax (yikes!!), we sat in for a little while before heading out to the playing fields. Wow what a view!! Got my gear on and listened very intently to the instructions. Still had a little time to waste so got some photos with my wonderful supporters, who I really appreciated coming along. I didn't mind doing it alone at first but then as the day started to loom closer I changed my mind. Watched, clapped and cheered abseilers coming down from the roof, some looked like pro's, coming down very fast like army men.
Well it was time for our small group to go up to the roof arrrrggghhhh. Butterflies in the tummy as we were all a little scared, one by one until it came to me. The instructor asked me to come closer to the edge, then swing backwards, making sure the SMALL rope was between my legs. "eh can I hold onto you while I do that". "sure Delete repeated word, I get held all the time". "Now sit back and let go of the rope", "Eh what do you mean let go of the rope", "Just let go of the rope", "I don't think so!!". He was trying to give me some confidence and finally I sat back and trusted the harnesses - PHEW. Oh but then I lost my footing at the beginning so as I descended down I kept twirling round and round and round....omg I was getting so dizzy and starting talking to myself "oh I just bet I'm the only one that has came down spinning like an idiot". Woohoo landed safely and got greeted by a nice climbing lady hearing me babble away to myself. Please don't laugh at the state I look.
It was so amazing to do it in the famous Edinburgh rugby grounds and for everyone helping me raise such a huge amount of money £3,515.00. I am absolutely overwhelmed with such generosity and am ever thankful for the support. The medical/scientific team are on the next stage to finding a cure and every single penny will help them immensely.
Photos very kindly taken from my Woodmac friend Laura's Dad Roderick Daniel :)
Thank you ever so much. Kim x

This year I decided to do something different to raise money for a Charity extremely close to my heart. On Sunday 15 April 2012 I ascended to the roof of the West stand of the Murrayfield Stadium, above the players’ tunnel, before abseiling the 100-foot journey to the pitchside track below. Take a look at 2012 Abseiling for proof I didnt chicken out and photos of the day.
It would be amazing if you could sponsor me (below) and join me in raising money to help make a difference to over 9,000 babies, children and adults in the UK, and their families, affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
Thank you very much for visiting my website. Kim xx
